Research

At Brain Health Center Miami, research is an integral part of our commitment to advancing the fields of neuroscience, mental health, and integrative healthcare. Our work explores innovative, evidence-based approaches to assessment and treatment, with a focus on neurodevelopmental disorders, trauma, chronic pain, epilepsy, psychophysiology, expressive arts therapies, and neuromodulation. Through ongoing research, clinical collaboration, and scholarly contributions, we strive to bridge the gap between emerging science and real-world patient care.

Photobiomodulation: Radiant Intervention for Stress in Epilepsy (PBM RISE)

The PBMRise study is a multi-site research initiative investigating whether transcranial photobiomodulation (PBM), a non-invasive red and near-infrared light therapy, can improve stress regulation, brain health, and quality of life in individuals living with epilepsy. By combining PBM with advanced EEG assessments, wearable biometric monitoring, and metabolic testing, the study aims to better understand how light-based interventions may influence neurological function and overall well-being. This pioneering research represents an important step toward developing innovative, evidence-based approaches that complement existing epilepsy treatments.
